Obituary for Sarah M Dalton

Sarah Marie Dalton

Sarah Marie Dalton, nee' Reilly, 88, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, at home in Columbus, New Jersey.

Sarah Marie, known to all who loved her as Sally, was born to Peter and Anne Reilly December 16, 1934, in Kearny, New Jersey. She was the youngest of five, and grew up surrounded by her many Scottish relatives, who, like her parents, had also settled in Kearny.

Sally graduated from St Cecilia High School in 1952, and along with her sister Helen, and brother, Frank, trained in opera singing and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to sing the Panis Angelicus with her siblings. Sally married Thomas F Dalton, who she called the love of her life.

Sally worked in many companies over her life, including Mary Kay and Estee' Lauder, and was employed by C-Lec Plastics, Inc in Philadelphia at the time of her death.

Sally will be remembered for her commitment to her work, her fun-loving personality, twinkling blue eyes, red 1960-era Volkswagen Beetle, and the love she had for her sweet canine companions, Murphy and Annie. She had a close group of friends and delighted in the lives of her many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews, who knew her as Aunt Sally, and particularly in her great grandnieces and nephew, who lovingly called her YaYa. She was renowned in the family for her baking skills, most notably her artistic pies and cherry pound cakes, which she sent to family members far and wide every Christmas. She reveled in saying she was forever 29.

Sally is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Helen, Francis, Peter and John.

Sally was well loved and will be missed by many.
