Obituary

Salvatore 'Buddy' Guido
On Sunday, February 7, 2021, Salvatore 'Buddy' Guido, loving husband and father of two sons, passed away at age 77. Buddy loved his wife, sons, and his 4 grandchildren with great passion and pride. He was born on January 15, 1944 in Chambersburg to Salvatore and Catherine (Mulé) Guido.

Stepping into the role of ‘Patriarch’ after the passing of his own father, Buddy cared deeply and always watched out for his two sisters Carol and Donna (Guido) Pelehaty. He continued to be the constant big brother and guardian.Carol married Ronald ‘Graz’ Graziano, who was a dear friend and like a brother to Buddy. Donna married Gary Pelehaty, and together, they shared a passion for golf. Bud also enjoyed visits to New Hampshire to visit his brother-in-law, Tim DiMatteo, spending time with him and his wife Brenda.

He enjoyed his conversations with his nieces Ali (Pelehaty) Raynor, Gia Graziano, Jackie (Pelehaty) Picard and Reta (Legard) Stebbins, and his nephews Dean Graziano, Wayne Raynor, George Picard and Mike Stebbins; great nieces and nephews, Katie and Nick Raynor, Juliana and George Picard, and Grayson Stebbins. Uncle BudBud was happiest surrounded by his family. The constant playful teasing of the ‘Breadman’ was a loving pastime.

Bud and Doris married in November of 1967. In 1971, Doris gave birth to Salvatore Anthony. 5 years later, Michael completed their family. Bud retired from New Colonial Bakery in Chambersburg where he proudly served as a Wholesale Salesman for over 32 years. Bud and Doris lived in Bordentown for over 40 years. Together they created a beautiful home, raised their sons and lived a simple, beautiful life built around family, lifelong friendships, and happiness.

They were involved in the Bordentown Elks, where Bud relished in ‘Sangwich night’, but especially the 10,000 Dollar Dinner where he enjoyed the company of friends, and mostly his sons being there with him. Many friendships were formed, shared and grown at the Lodge.

In 2009, Bud and Doris fulfilled a lifelong dream and bought a house in Long Beach Island. A favorite annual family destination throughout the boy’s childhood, Bud and Doris loved summer vacations at the beach with their sons and close family friends growing up. After Doris retired from Bordentown Regional School District, they decided to make Surf City their permanent residence.

Bud was known for his smart advice, his emphatic loyalty, infectious smile and whole-hearted laugh. He loved watching golf, and playing rounds with his friends and cousins, listening to oldies music, and happily reminiscing of days past. Buddy was a great listener, a man who would happily sit and talk with you for hours. Doris always by his side, she was his shadow, harassing him, teasing him and doting on him. He took great pride in both his sons, and all their accomplishments in career and family. He relished in the phone calls, FaceTime videos and visits with his 4 grandchildren, all avid athletes, with boundless energy and a severe, abundant love for their 'PopPop'. His face lit up whenever they were around. His smile made you smile, his hugs bountiful.

He is survived by his devoted wife Doris, his two sons, Sal and Michael, their spouses Melissa and Carlyn; 4 grandchildren- Ariana, Sal, Anna and Josephine; two sisters Carol Graziano and Donna Pelehaty, several cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and a wealth of friends.

I am so sorry to hear about cousin Buddy passing away - so suddenly too. My condolences to you Doris, Michael, Sal, Carol, Donna and the rest of of his beautiful family. Buddy had a heart larger than the universe. My fondest memories of Buddy are of him taking my mom to bingo; oftentimes out of his way. That's Buddy, always available to help family out. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, cuz.
