Obituary for Robert J Delaney

Robert J. Delaney passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in his 88th year.

He was born in Trenton on January 5, 1935 and resided in Hamilton/Trenton for his entire life. Bob began his law enforcement career with the Trenton Police Department. After retiring from the Trenton Police Department, Bob continued to serve his community at the Mercer County Sherriff’s Department. He retired in 2000 after 41 years of dedicated service.

He was a parishioner of St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish and a brother of the Knights of Columbus Hamilton Council #6213. He was a Phillies fan and an avid gardener. Bob will be remembered for his love of caring for stray animals and the constant overfeeding of his fish. His joy in life were his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Thomas (Flori), Karl (Pat), Michael (Ann), Kathleen (John), Robert (Anna), Kelly (Stedman), a special nephew, Thomas (Sandy), his sister, Joan (Guy) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish. 3500 S Broad St, Hamilton Township, NJ 08610.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 am until 11:00 a.m.. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will follow at the Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, NJ 08505. (609) 298-0128. Burial will follow immediately at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
