Obituary

Michael E. Kalman, 94, of Hamilton New Jersey passed away peacefully on Thursday October 1, 2020 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Trenton NJ, he was predeceased by his wife Esther M. (Black) Kalman, his mother Mary (Kerekes) Kalman, his father Andrew Kalman, his sister Anna (Kalman) Yeager and childhood friend Eddie Jackson. He is survived by and was both mother and father to his 4 children, daughter June (Kalman) Gagliardi, son Edward M. Kalman and daughter-in-law Ann, daughter Joan Kalman, daughter Jayne (Kalman) Hanuschik and son-in-law George T. Hanuschik. Ten grandchildren; Deserrie and Barbara, Nadia and Eddie, Kristina, Joseph, Jesse, and Sarah, George Jr. and Nicole. Seven great grandchildren; Victoria and Ava, Patrick and Christopher, Damian, Evija and Ayden. Several nieces and nephews, longtime friends; Florence and Jim Snook, and Stan Lech.

Michael enjoyed cooking and hosting large gatherings at his home with his family and friends. He loved trips to Manhattan for shows, restaurants and dancing with his wife.

He was an avid gardener (grew the best tomatoes in New Jersey). He loved fishing and crabbing on his boat the “Lady Es”.

Michael was the owner and operator of the well-known “Morrisville Bakery” in Pennsylvania, and brought the artistry of his many well-known Hungarian and Jewish pastries, desserts and breads.

Michael served in The United States Army during World War II, cooking for the troops in Japan and Korea. His food was so delicious that he was chosen by General Douglas MacArthur to be his personal cook. During his service, Michael received numerous medals.

Above all else, Michael will be remembered for his love of his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be missed by all.

It was Michael’s wish that any memorial contributions be made in the form of charitable donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital www.http://giftfunds.stjude.org/Michael-E-Kalman.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020, at the Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ 08505. Calling hours followed by service will be Monday morning from 10:00am to 11:30am. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton Township, New Jersey.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, 100 people at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. Masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced. There is a speaker outside of the Funeral Home for people to hear the service.
