Obituary for Matthias Di Mattia

Matthias L. DiMattia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 2, 2022, with his loving family by his side.
Matt was born in Trenton (Chambersburg), NJ, and was a longtime resident of Bordentown Township.

He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1966. After graduation he received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rider University in 1971 and then went on to receive his Master’s in Business Administration from Monmouth University in 1982.

Matt was employed as a Business Administrator for NJDEP, Division of Fish and Wildlife. He retired in 2008 after over 30 years of dedicated service to The State of New Jersey.

Matt moved to Bordentown Township in the early 1970’s to start a family, which sparked his interest in local politics. This led him to serve on the Bordentown Township Zoning Board in the mid 1980’s, Deputy Mayor of Bordentown Township in 1991, Mayor of Bordentown Township 1992, Bordentown Township Committeeman in 1993 and finally the Bordentown Township Planning Board where he served for many years.

At a very young age Matt became passionate about health, fitness and bodybuilding. In 1966 he competed and was awarded Junior Mr. Trenton and Most Muscular Man of the competition. Later in life after retiring he became co-owner of MPower Nutrition with his son Paul.

One of Matt’s greatest joys in life was his family and community. He would always take the time to help and mentor anyone who needed guidance and support. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and caring friend. He will be missed by so many.

Son of the late Louis and Florence DiMattia, he is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Theresa DiMattia. He is survived by his beloved children, Anita DiMattia, Louis and (Amanda) Di-Mattia, Paul DiMattia, his former spouse and lifelong best friend, Mary DiMattia, his siblings, Maria Lownie, Patrick and (Deborah) DiMattia, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

At the request of the family, donations may be made in Matt’s name to Mary Mother of the church Parish 45 Crosswicks St. Bordentown NJ 08505.

A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be held on Monday February 7, 2022, at the Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, NJ 08505. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with service to follow immediately after. Burial will be private.
