Obituary for Kathryn M. Gabel

Kathryn Gabel, age 62, of Bordentown, NJ passed away, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton Inpatient Hospice after her illness with colon cancer.

Kathy was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Robert and Kathryn Gabel. She lived in Bordentown for over 20 years.

Kathy was employed as Director of Volunteer Services at RWJ Barnabas Health Hamilton. She was admired for her integrity, energy, sense of humor, and engaging personality. Kathy’s legacy is her development of the volunteer services program and her devotion to her volunteer family.

She is survived by her partner Mariane, and siblings: Joann, Ed, Pat, and Ruth. She was preceded in death by siblings Betsy and Bob. Survived by her nieces and nephews: Rose, Robin, Sharon, and Bobby; Peter, Rob, and Natalie; Brian and Christine; Joe; Liz and Maeve. Preceded in death by niece Julie. Survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.

Kathy and Mariane loved being outdoors walking, biking, hiking, and kayaking with their close friends. Kathy and Mariane made it a point to travel, and recently splurged for a Viking Cruise through parts of Europe.

Kathy was blessed with and loved by loyal friends, family, and kindred spirits. She will be lovingly remembered for her smile, humor, and determination.

Arrangements are private. Memorial gifts may be given to Unite for HER, an organization that helps provide complementary therapies to women facing cancer.
