Obituary for John Glen Johnstone

John Glen Johnstone, passed away peacefully on Friday May 27, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York City, John grew up in Jersey City with his many siblings and loving parents. As an adult he was a longtime resident of Jackson Township, NJ before moving to Bordentown, NJ.

John was a professional licensed electrical engineer who received his undergraduate degree from Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) and his graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Monmouth University. He was a proud member of the Theta Chi Fraternity, Epsilon Psi Chapter. John was employed with Northrop Grumman Corporation where he utilized his passion of math and science to create innovative technology. He retired after many years of dedicated service.

John had many hobbies. He enjoyed scuba diving in his younger years. He loved photography and being behind the camera rather than in the photos. He would also spend many hours in a dark room developing his own film. He loved to work with his hands and build things from televisions to finishing the basement in his home complete with a bar, full stereo system and pool table. He loved watching science fiction or the History Channel and of course solving math equations. His keen sense of humor would always create laughter for those around him.

However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring grandfather. He truly was a generous man to all who knew him, and he will be missed by many.

The son of the late John and Margaret Johnstone, he is predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan Johnstone; his siblings, James, Margaret and Kenneth John-stone, Mary Ellen Lane, and Isabel Marchitto. He is survived by his children, Lisa and (Michael) Britt, Dawn and (Richard) Marlow, James and (Lauren) Johnstone; his grandchildren, Corey, Kevin, Jakob, McKenna, Emily, Addison, and his sister, Elizabeth and (Steven) Domasica as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
