Helen F. Greene 96, passed away Sunday July 25, 2021 at the Masonic Home in Burlington, with her loving family by her side. Born in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, Helen grew up in Brooklyn, raised her family in New Jersey, returned to live in Brooklyn before moving to Burlington 5 years ago.

Helen was a Biology teacher and worked as a teacher for about 30 years, retiring from the NYC Board of Education in 1995. After retiring, Helen worked as a volunteer for the American Museum of Natural History in New York City where she especially loved volunteering in the Butterfly Conservatory.

Helen loved to learn, and after returning to Brooklyn, she went back to school, earned another Masters Degree, and became a registered Dietitian. After retirement, she also began to teach Nutrition and Wellness courses to seniors at Brooklyn College.

When Helen was not volunteering or teaching, she enjoyed going to the theater in New York City and loved watching Harry Potter movies. But her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, a dearest friend and she will be missed by many.

Daughter of the late Benjamin and Bessie Reiss, she is predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie Miller and Phyllis Miller. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin Shain MD and Nancy Marder, her daughters and sons-in-law, Anne Shain MD and Warren Thau MD, Betsy G. Ramos Esq. and Victor Ramos.
