Obituary for Frances J. Adams
Frances Julia Adams passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, with her loving husband by her side.
She was born in Rochester, NY on September 2, 1945 and raised in Brighton, Monroe County, NY. Daughter of the late James Howard and Lacy Virginia Brown, she is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Douglas Adams, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Guenn Stevenson and son, Randall Stevenson, her sisters, Alice Lee, Janice Hansen, Elizabeth Hageman and her husband Ken Hageman and also her grandchildren Derek, Avery, Levi and Shane Stevenson and many extended family members and friends.
She graduated from Geneseo Central High School, attended the State University of New York, Brockport and the Herron School of Art for Photography. In the early 80s, she worked at Photographics Studios and enjoyed photography, developing film and retouching photographs. Living in Indiana at the time, she became a freelance photographer for the Indiana Pacers and a school picture photographer.
She and Doug married on June 1, 1985. Around that time, she discovered her calling as a Christian Science Nurse. She worked at the Christian Science Facility, Midland House, in Indiana and continued training at Tenacre in New Jersey. She and Doug subsequently moved to New Jersey so that they could be together while she continued her studies and service. She was a wonderful nurse with an amazing ability to touch people’s hearts and help them heal. She always brought out the best in everyone she served.
She truly enjoyed being outside and created beautiful gardens around her home. She and Doug enjoyed spending time planning and renovating the house. She was an avid reader. She loved vacationing with family at State and National Parks. Her greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend. She will be immensely missed by many.
Fran donated to many charities. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity in honor of Fran.
