Obituary for Doris H Burton

Doris H. Burton, a longtime resident of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022. Daughter of Rose L. Castner, she was born in Trenton, NJ on October 9, 1929 and grew up in the Bordentown area. After graduating The Villa Victoria Academy and Cathedral High in Trenton, she married and raised her four children in Burlington Township. She moved to Fort Myers, FL with her second husband, William E. Burton, where they enjoyed sailing the Gulf waters in their sailboat “Sand Pebbles” and all that Fort Myers had to offer.

Dee truly had a zest for life! Always interested in meeting new people, she enjoyed her time working in banking, retail and spent many years as a volunteer at Regional Southwest Airport with the Lee County Visitor’s Bureau. When not spending time with her many dear friends, Dee loved to travel throughout the United States and Europe. She enjoyed many summers in Alaska with her daughter, Sherry.

Mother of the late Colleen Tinsley, Dee is survived by her daughters, Wanda L. Getz of Fort Myers, and Sherry Ward of Burlington, NJ; son, Rick McClaskey of the Philippines and many loving relatives in Florida and New Jersey. She will truly be missed.

Graveside Services for Doris and her daughter Colleen on Saturday October 7th 2023, 11:30 am at St. Mary's Cemetery Cemetery Lane Bordentown NJ 08505.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Dee’s friends for their continued support and love and to the staff members of The Palms of Fort Myers, Seniors Helping Seniors and Hope Hospice, we shall be eternally grateful to all of you for your loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice in memory of Dee.
