Obituary for Catherine L. Hujus

Catherine Wright Hujus, 92, of Trenton, NJ passed away at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Lawrenceville on May 19, 2020. Catherine was born on August 14, 1927 in Glasgow Scotland. Catherine came to America in 1957 on the Queen Mary and moved to the Bronx where she worked as a nanny. While living in New York, she met her husband Harvey Hujus, and they moved to Trenton. She was employed at Heinemann Electric, Prince Racket and Carter Wallace, from which she retired.

Catherine was involved in many organizations. As a young girl, she was a member of the Scottish Girls Training Corps during WWII in Glasgow, Scotland. She was a member of the German American Club, Scots American Club, Catholic War Veterans and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Whitehorse Fire Company. She was the past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 313 and the past President of the Mercer County Ladies Auxiliary of The American Legion.

She was pre-deceased by her mother, Elizabeth Welsh Wright, her husband Harvey Hujus, her brother James Wright, and close cousin Alice Falconer. Surviving are her niece and her husband Carol and Carmen Adonizio, their children Pasqualin Adonizio, Jennifer (Tito)Vazquez, and Robert (Kate) Adonizio, a special niece and nephew in Scotland Allison Falconer and Stuart Falconer, special family friends Charles and Cathy Kulins, Andrew Kulins, the Kulin’s families, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Scotland. The family would like to thank the staff and administrators at Morris Hall for the loving care they provided to Catherine during her years at St. Joseph’s.

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, services will be private.
