Bernard Wendell Still

Sunrise - February 15, 1943 – Sunset - April 18, 2020

Bernard Wendell Still 77, of Camden New Jersey passed away after sickness on April 18, 2020 in Fuerth,
Germany in the care of his children.

He was born February 15, 1943 in Camden New Jersey the son of Thelma (Still) Hickson and Edgar
Nelms.

Bernard is survived by his brother Edgar Nelms, three daughters and Shmiko Cole of Stone Mountain GA.,
Yoshiko Still of Riverdale, GA; Cheyenne Still of Erlangen Germany and sons Mark Still (Joelia Still) of
Jonesboro, GA and Geronimo Still of Erlangen Germany.

His 12 grandchildren Pocha Carter, Terron Carter, Robert Brown, Gabriel (Deliah) Brown, Christopher Smith,
Tryell Still, Devon’e Still, Kenneth Coleman, Khalil Coleman, Laila Coleman, Jordan Still and Tristan
Still.
His only great granddaughter Mila Rumika DelOrbe – Brown.

He will be always loved and missed by the entire Still Family especially his cousins Sandra Pratt, Terrell W
Person, Art Still, Arthur Still, Byron McKinsey, Bernadette Edwards and many more.

Bernard made friends for life all over the world, especially in Europe where he lived more than 40 years.
He will be dearly missed and remembered by James Hopkins, Carl Simpson, Jimmy Andujar, Leonard
Everette, Peadar Murphy, Cicero Mensah and uncountable more.

Bernard loved to travel and was intrigued and inspired by different cultures. Always embracing peace
and the nurturing of relations with others.

Joining the United States Army in September of 1961 enabled him to see the world and he found a home
in Europe after ending his enlistment term in November of 1980.

During breaks in service he lived in France, Belgium, Denmark and Germany where he pursued his
passion of Art – oil painting. He created beautiful paintings using his artist name of BASTILLE. From
portraits for the family to the painting of the famous last supper which is still on display in a church in
Viernheim, Germany where he expressed is amazing artistic side.

Bernard was an avid outdoors man and cyclist, weekends where filled with camping, sports activities and
his greatest love his black racing road bike, he would go on traveling on a bike from his new hometown in
Germany to Paris, France and to Milan, Italy crossing the Alps on a road by bicycle.

He spoke German, Italian and French, was able to make everyone who met him love him and his
beautiful, beautiful laugh and smile.

He instilled in his children to believe in their dreams and to never quit. He made it clear to his children
that if they could change the world by changing the world around them.

On April 18, 2020, an American hero, artist, adventurer, beloved father, grandfather, brother, cousin an
overall family man took his last breath to go yet on another journey .
